What is Fire Engineering?

Fire engineering design is the application of engineering and scientific principles to ensure that the building can resist the unintentional consequences of a fire occurring within a portion of or throughout a structure. Preventing and reducing the risk of a fire is an essential component of fire engineering.

When do you need a fire safety engineer?

A building must adopt a prescriptive building design in accordance with the National Construction Code, Building Codes of Australia (BCA) by Deemed-to-Satisfy (DtS) Solution, or Performance Solution.

When a building design does not comply with Performance Requirements by Deemed-to-Satisfy (DtS) Solution then a Performance Solution is developed by a fire safety engineer to ensure it satisfies the Performance Requirements.

Ideally, for the most effective fire safety design, Quench Fire Engineer should be engaged at the primitive design phase of the building throughout the construction inspection and commissioning phase.
